I was one of the lucky ones.

I found my soulmate back in high school, when my next door neighbor wrote me a love note that changed my life -- a love note that promised me "always."

But apparently "always" ain't all it's cracked up to be, because here I am, a mere eight years later, planning my soulmate's dream wedding -- the most romantic Valentine's Day wedding in O'Leary's history.

The only problem? He's not marrying me.

NOTE This is a 20K SHORT STORY that was first available as part of a promotional giveaway. No new content has been added.

  • It makes me sad those 8y wasted... but that's life for you. And that fun, beautiful, sweet, sexy ending makes up for it.
It is a short read but feels complete. Though I'd love to know more ^^

    I'll keep reading 📖
  • .Made me feel young at heart and wanting more of the Oleary stories, the sort of book to brighten the dullest day
  • I loved this story. Even though the big reveal was obvious from the very first moment it packed an e optional punch when it came. There were points I cried and points I laughed and points I cheered.

The only thing that didn’t work for me was the math. Trying to figure out what I missed but if Tyler and Alex started dating at 18 (seniors in HS) and dated “long distance all through college” but decided to see other people just before graduation (which they say is five years but would have been four) and then a month later (June) Alex started dating Melissa And six months later (December) proposed at Christmas and it’s now a year and two months after the proposal...that adds up to five and a half years, maybe six and a half if the original five years is correct but no way is it the eight years they keep saying.

Aside from that frustration (!) it’s a really cute story and a nice lead in to Constantine’s story which is up next.
  • It's a pity we didn't get to see more of Gus and Tyler, but what we did see was just enough to make this story a winner. They've known each other their whole lives, almost, and Tyler used to have a crush on Gus. But things changed -- you'll have to read it to find out how -- and because of a miscommunication with its resultant misunderstanding, each man goes his own way, far from the other and from the love they only come back to in this novella. If you're smart, you'll figure out from the very beginning what it takes Tyler almost the whole book to discover. I will only say that I thought that their reunion was too hurried. The story would have benefited from showing more of those events that follow the rehearsal dinner since so much time was spent on the eight years' worth of misunderstanding that preceded it.
  • You know what they say about assuming...

    ~~SPOILER~~
Tyler spent years of his life feeling like crap because he thought his best friend (and ex) had broken his heart. Finding a note when he was 18 changed Tyler’s life. It made him feel wanted, loved, and cared for. Little did he know, his assumption of the author of that note was so very wrong.

    ~~END SPOILER~~

Once the truth comes out, sparks fly between Tyler and Gus and they make up for lost time.

This story was so cute! I loved it!

This is a short story written for a Valentine's giveaway promotion set in O'Leary.

It was short and sweet. I really hate second chance because it always feels like wasted time between the MCs and this one was no different. I feel like the way the MCs got together was also a little uncomfortable for me just because of the family connection but it was well written and the first couple of chapters were a real curve ball!

Overall, this was a cute short but was only mildly related to O'Leary as we only see a few references to the town.
  • I loved Micah and Constantine. One of my favorite parts about this story is that the MCs spent most of the time interacting with each other and building on their relationship. I have recently read a lot of books where the MCs spend a majority of their time apart while agonizing over their relationship, so this was a breath of fresh air. I actually love all the O'Leary stories, and cannot wait for the next one. Fingers crossed for Mason!!
