  • I am using this guide and the RHIT exam secrets guide from Mometrix and the official AHIMA guide to study from. THe ahima guide was amazing this guide was a waste of money for me. The chapters do not link with the domains, which means that domain 2 does not have a chapter is shares another chapter with others. That combined with a unnecessarily complicated crosswalk for the test domains along side the illogically named chapters makes a confusing setup. For example Chapter 3 is called Health Data Content and standards... this does not mesh with ANY of the domain descriptions for EITHER test. Making it very hard to gauge your weaknesses. And then the worst thing about this book is that the answer key is..... im trying not to be mean...but its pathetic. Complex statistics questions with NO breakdown so you can figure out what you did wrong. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and just by the AHIMA version... The answers are in depth and walk you through HOW THEY GOT THE ANSWER......
  • This was a good review guide but the actual RHIT was no where near as intense as this review guide! I will say that the BASIC information gained from these COMPLEX practice tests were helpful but somewhat unnecessary. I used this along with the AHIMA RHIT exam prep and passed with no problem. This guide actually caused me to panic a little!
  • I used this book to prepare for my RHIT exam which I successfully completed during my final semester of study in April. I anticipated taking the exam under ICD-9 and in hindsight that was a good call, considering ICD-10's postponement. This book organized the material I needed to review. It provided questions in appropriate areas of review that required me to think about the optional answers and ask myself what I knew about each option. This provided a very good means of reviewing the material and topics covered in the RHIT exam. Some of the material I found I'd forgotten about since my initial courses and using this guide helped me to identify areas to review. One criticism is that some of the page numbers for reference materials seemed off, the actual information was often found nearby but not on the pages cited. There was a red, white, and black cardboard flap inside the front cover with an access code as opposed to a CD. I used this site to do additional review but unlike the text it only tells you you got the question wrong without citing a reference source. All in all I found this book a helpful resource for organizing my review and preparing me for the exam.
  • I purchased this book for an RHIT prep course. I pre-ordered the 2013 edition because I thought it would be best to have the latest updates, even though it would not arrive until the second week of school. To be fair, this book does have a lot of good information and references for those studying for the RHIT exam. However, the description of the book says that it includes a CD-ROM and free access to practice exams online. Mine came with neither. I am VERY disappointed with my purchase. I really don't want to return the book because I am halfway through a six-week course. So I really feel stuck on this one. I do not recommend this edition of the professional review guide to anyone at this point.
  • This is great! I sat for my RHIT in 2015 and missed by a few points. I used the AHIMA RHIT exam prep 2014. When I sat in 2015 I didn't see much of what was in the AHIMA exam prep... but with this PRG I'm sure I will see more of what will be on the text.
  • I think this book is very good at helping you review what you have learned in school, but really did not help with the actual exam. I read through, and practiced the entire book, but the exam questions were very different from what was in this book. The exam had some questions that I never even heard of before. I did pass the exam, but I don't think I can give this book any credit for that. If you have some extra money you don't mind spending, then purchase this book, it is a good resource, but many of these same questions can be found on line for free.
  • I ordered this book used through and received it from the Best Bargain Books company. It arrived quickly, arrived like new, and the CD had not been opened.

The Review Guide was great in that the questions were grouped under major catagories, each question was very detailed and easy to understand, and most important, there were answers to all the questions and each answer was very detailed for maximum understanding. For example, each answer not only give the correct answer for each of the multiple choise questions and told why that was the correct answer, each answer also, in most cases, detailed why the other choices were not correct for the question. Finally the review guide had a separate section on examination study strategies and resources to better prepare the user for taking the RHIA and RHIT examinations. Since this is the 2007 edition, the latest edition is recommended for the person wanting to take and pass the current RHIA/RHIT examinations.

One of the major reasons I liked this book was that each question had a detailed answer, unlike many review guides where only certain questions have answers and the answers are too short and not detailed, such as giving only the multiple choice letter to the correct answer. I learn a lot from the answers and the more detailed and complete the answers are, the more I learn and understand the subject matter.
  • Fantastic review book for the RHIT exam. There are several questions in the book with incorrect answers but if you refer to Health Info Tech An Applied Approach by Sayles, both will help you out enormously in the exam.
